The erstwhile Southern Region of BR was (and still is for a little while longer) home to Diesel Electric units. The better known variant were the 'Hastings' DEMUs reigning supreme on the route to Hastings from the end of steam operation until the line was modified (to take wider vehicles) and electrified. 1032 leading 1002 arrive at Battle with the 15:21 Hastings - London Charing Cross of 26th September 1984.
Again on 26th September 1984 1313 is paired with 1316 at London Bridge with a service to Uckfield. 4-VEP 7889 is passing behind.
